How did we get here?

As parents in the 1990s, we agonized over the decision of choosing a school for our daughters.  The schooling model had changed very little since we were kids in the 60s and our parents, even, in the 40s! We chose to Homeschool.

Now, as our daughters look at the world that our grandchildren will be entering, they also question the need for endless homework, frequent tests, and sitting behind a desk all day. Is this really the best way to prepare them for the 21st century world that they will be entering?

No "hold on to your seats" story just two grandparents, excited and enthusiastic to watch their grandchildren, Wyatt, Willa, Garrett, Juniper and Rosalie find their calling and change the world. Just like so many parents, our daughters thoroughly researched potential schooling models and questioned countless friends about their schooling experiences. 

The rethinking education model of Acton Academy offers what we want for our grandchildren and for all children - to be prepared for a meaningful life, with 21st century skills that focus on learning to "Do" and to learning to "Be" while embracing the path of a lifelong learner.
